NCERT has released a new Sanskrit textbook, 'Deepakam' for class 8 students, which has been prepared according to the New Education Policy (NEP 2020) and National Curriculum Framework (NCF 2023). The purpose of this book is not only to teach the Sanskrit language, but also to develop logical thinking, creativity, and human values in children.
The most special thing about this book is that in this, studies have been made experience-based, not a burden. In this, subjects will be explained to the children through projects, so that they will not just memorize the subjects, but will learn by doing them.
Reasoning and thinking will get direction
In 'Deepakam', Sanskrit language has been presented in such a way that it develops the reasoning and analytical ability of children. Along with examples from old religious or literary texts, modern topics like Digital India, health, environment and social life have also been added. Its purpose is that students not only understand the rules of Sanskrit, but can also connect with the society.
Texts decorated with pictures and stories
The new book includes picture-based teaching, dialogues, poems and stories. All this is in colorful pages and attractive design, so that children do not find the book cumbersome. Along with this, difficult grammar has also been explained in easy language and practice.

Connection with values and culture
In the book, not only studies, but values related to life, such as honesty, cooperation, love for the environment, self-reliance etc. have also been explained through simple examples in Sanskrit. Children have also been given information about Devanagari script and Indian culture in a simple form.

This new book has been designed in such a way that teachers can teach it in the class without any extra preparation. Also, parents can help the children, because the language is simple and the topics are related to life.
