Why Aamir Khan 'Blames' PAK Cricket Legend Javed Miandad for 'Ruining' His 1st Wedding

Aamir Khan is a legend when it comes to Bollywood. He is called ‘Mr. Perfectionist’ because of the effort and research he puts into his roles. The man has on many occasions given big masterpieces on the big screen. That is the reason he is one of the big names dominating the Hindi film industry.

When it comes to his personal life, Aamir has been married twice. His marriage with Kiran Rao in 2005 ended in 2021. His first wife Reena Dutta tied the knot with him in 1986 and they split in 2002. In an interview with Lallantop, as per DNA, Aamir opened up on his first marriage and how a Pakistani cricket legend ‘ruined’ first wedding.

Who Is the Legend?

The legend in question is none other than Pakistani great Javed Miandad. The man who served the country for 21 years at the highest level and whose Test average never went below 50 was the man who, according to Aamir, ‘ruined’ his first wedding. Aamir revealed what happened.

What Actually Happened?

Soon after Aamir turned 21 on March 14, 1986 and could legally marry, he tied the knot with Reena. When they went back home, they were scared about how people would react. But on that very day, April 18, it was a final in Sharjah between India and Pakistan and it was a game that India were winning. But Miandad’s last-ball six won the game for Pakistan by one wicket.

“No one asked us anything because everyone was busy watching the match,” Aamir said. “I even sat down with them and started watching. India was winning, and we all were happy. But then Javed Miandad hit a six on the last ball… and everything changed,” he said.

“That six spoiled everything. I went into depression,” he added with a smile.

"“I told him, Javed bhai, you did not do the right thing. You ruined my marriage. He asked how. I told him, on that day you hit that six, and I went into depression,” went on to say referring to the time when he finally met Miandad later on.

Secret Wedding

Aamir and Reena were childhood sweethearts and they had eloped. But their ‘secret wedding’ did not stay a secret for too long as Reena's family eventually found out and were not happy. Her father had a heart attack and wanted to have nothing with Reena. Eventually both the families accepted the union and then Aamir's sister Farhat married Reena’s brother Rajiv.

Aamir’s Recent Success

Aamir was last seen in Sitaare Zameen Par which was a commercial success. He will next be seen in Rajinikanth’s Tamil film Coolie where he has an extended cameo. It will come out on August 14. His next Bollywood film is Lahore 1947 that also comes out later this year. He is the producer as well. After his success with his latest release, fans are waiting in anticipation.
