Virat Kohli has once again cemented his legacy as one of the greatest batters in the history of the Indian Premier League (IPL) by becoming the first player to score over 600 runs in five different seasons. The 36-year-old reached this landmark during the ongoing 2025 edition, where he scored 602 so far. He still has at least one match left to play in the league this season
Kohli’s run-scoring spree began back in 2013 when he amassed 634 runs, followed by a record-shattering 973-run season in 2016 that remains the highest individual tally in a single IPL edition. He continued to showcase remarkable consistency, scoring 639 runs in 2023 and 741 runs in 2024, before adding another 600-plus campaign this year. No other player has matched this level of sustained excellence in the tournament’s history.

The Indian Premier League is the only T20 cricket Virat Kohli is currently involved in. After the T20 World Cup win in 2024, Virat hung up his boots from the format. However, the Kings are making sure that he is not finished. Today against LSG, he scored his eighth half-century of the season but got dismissed by Avesh Khan for 54 balls. Notably, in eight innings against Virat throughout, this was the third time he bagged Kohli.
