Equity benchmarks Sensex and Nifty on Tuesday gave up most of their sharp intra-day gains due to the emergence of profit-taking as investors turned cautious amid reports of a ceasefire violation between Iran and Israel.
After surging 1,121 points or 1.36% to 83,018 in intra-day trade, the 30-share Sensex later trimmed most of its gains as reports surfaced of the ceasefire plan faltering. But, the benchmark still managed to settle in the green, climbing 158 points or 0.19% to 82,055.

The overall sentiment remains positive, with a possibility of a rise towards 25,350. Immediate support is placed at 25,000; a break below this level could lead to a drift towards 24,850. On the other hand, if the index holds above 25,000, strength may persist, and the sentiment could favour long traders.

NTPC (Rs 3,284 crore), RIL (Rs 2,389 crore), HDFC Bank (Rs 2222 crore), BSE (Rs 1,696 crore), GRSE (Rs 1,674 crore), ICICI Bank (Rs 1,595 crore) and BEL (Rs 1,415 crore) were among the most active stocks on BSE in value terms. Higher activity in a counter in value terms can help identify the counters with highest trading turnovers in the day.

Vodafone Idea (Traded shares: 10.3 crore), YES Bank (Traded shares: 11.13 crore), NTPC (Traded shares: 10.08 crore), Suzlon (Traded shares: 8.44 crore), JP Power (Traded shares: 5.97 crore), Vishal Mega Mart (Traded shares: 4.81 crore) and Vishal Mega Mart (Traded shares: 5.94 crore) were among the most actively traded stocks in volume terms on NSE.

Shares of Hyundai Motor, L&T Finance, Authum Investment, Aditya Birla Corp, Lloyds Metals, Poonawalla Fincorp among the stocks that witnessed strong buying interest from market participants.

About 108 stocks hit their 52 week highs today while 44 stocks slipped to their 52-week lows.
Sentiment meter bullish
The market sentiments were bullish. Out of the 4,144 stocks that traded on the BSE on Wednesday, 2,615 stocks witnessed advances, 1,788 saw 1,385, while 144 stocks remained unchanged.
