Bengaluru Weather: Continuous rain triggers waterlogging and traffic chaos, IMD issues yellow alert

Send Push
Continuous heavy rainfall in Bengaluru has severely affected daily life, with waterlogged roads causing major inconvenience to commuters. Residents in low-lying areas are particularly worried about potential health risks due to stagnant water in their localities.

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the city will experience two more days of intense rain starting today, August 9. A yellow alert has been issued until August 10, which may be extended if the rain continues. The Times of India (TOI) reported that the downpour is the result of a strong revival of the southwest monsoon, leading to intense showers across the city.

On Thursday, heavy traffic congestion was reported in several parts of Bengaluru, including Vaddarapalya towards Hennur, Vaddarapalya towards Geddalahalli, and the Ramamurthy Nagar–Kasturi Nagar service road. Peak-hour traffic worsened on stretches from MMT to T C Palya, while a broken-down vehicle caused delays from Kogilu Cross to Raitara Sante. Waterlogging also slowed movement on the Nagavara–Veeranna Palya road.
