Donald Trump silences death chatter and health rumours with golf day alongside grandchildren

Send Push
President Donald Trump returned to public view on Saturday after days without appearances prompted speculation about his health. He was photographed leaving the White House at around 8.45 a.m. dressed in a white polo shirt, black trousers and a red MAGA hat, accompanied by his granddaughter Kai Trump and grandson Spencer Frederick Trump. They later travelled to Trump National Golf Club in Sterling, Virginia.

His absence from public schedules throughout the week had stirred rumours, especially after a recent Cabinet meeting photo showed visible bruises on his hand.

Online speculation gains momentum
The silence fed into conspiracy theories online. On Friday night and into Saturday morning, hashtags such as “#TrumpIsDead” and “#WhereIsTrump” trended on X, with users questioning whether the president was ill or worse.

Veteran journalist Laura Rozen, who had been tracking Trump’s appearances on X, reposted images of him at his golf club to counter the speculation. Daily Caller White House correspondent Reagan Reese also intervened, writing on X, “I wake up to see people freaking out that Trump’s sick or dead or something because he hasn’t been seen in a few days. I was with the president yesterday afternoon. I interviewed him for an hour.”

Trump’s own response
Trump himself addressed a separate issue during the week, posting on Truth Social about a court ruling that challenged his trade policies. He wrote, “ALL TARIFFS ARE STILL IN EFFECT! Today a Highly Partisan Appeals Court incorrectly said that our Tariffs should be removed, but they know the United States of America will win in the end. If these Tariffs ever went away, it would be a total disaster for the Country. It would make us financially weak, and we have to be strong.”

Vice President’s Defence
Vice President JD Vance directly addressed concerns about Trump’s health in interviews earlier this week. Speaking to USA Today, he said, “Yes, terrible tragedies happen. But I feel very confident the president of the United States is in good shape, is going to serve out the remainder of his term and do great things for the American people.”

He added, “And if, God forbid, there’s a terrible tragedy, I can’t think of better on-the-job training than what I’ve gotten over the last 200 days.”

Vance also described Trump’s stamina, remarking on Wednesday, “He’s the last person making phone calls at night, and he’s the first person who wakes up and the first person making phone calls in the morning.”

Trump's medical background
Last month, White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt confirmed that Trump had undergone tests for swelling in his legs and bruises on his hands, including the mark that appeared in the widely shared Cabinet photo. Doctors diagnosed him with chronic venous insufficiency, a condition common in people over 70 where veins struggle to push blood back towards the heart. The bruises, aides noted, are often covered with makeup.

At 79, Trump became the oldest president ever to take office when he was sworn in again this January. Concerns about his health have persisted, in part because of his age and also because of past incidents, including an assassination attempt last year in Pennsylvania when a bullet grazed his ear during a campaign rally.

Despite the rumours, Trump has kept up a steady work pace, according to allies. Alongside his Truth Social posts and regular calls, he sat for an in-person interview with The Daily Caller earlier this week, which was published on Saturday.

His return to the golf course and public sight appears to have quieted speculation, at least for now, though questions over his health continue to shadow his presidency.
