Indore (Madhya Pradesh): A head constable posted in Kanadiya police station committed suicide by lying down in front of a moving train in the Lasudia area on Thursday.
He had reportedly been suffering from some health issues for the past couple of years, which led to mental distress. Preliminary investigation suggested that the prolonged illness might be the reason behind his extreme step.
ACP Aditya Patle said the deceased Jitendra Chauhan, a resident of Scheme No. 114, was posted at Kanadia police station. For the past year, he had been on medical leave due to his deteriorating health condition. He was also in depression due to his health issues which might be the reason behind his drastic step.
On Thursday afternoon, Chauhan had left home around 1 PM. Later, he went to the Kailod Hala railway crossing in the Lasudia area and lay down on the tracks.
Locals spotted the body on the tracks and informed the police. When police reached the scene and identified the body, they informed his family and senior officials. No suicide note was found on the spot.
