On Monday evening, Rupali took to her Instagram Story, re-sharing a photo with Viraj's nani, in which she is seen kissing his ailing grandmother's hand. The actress wrote, "Naani, you will be missed." Reports suggest Viraj's grandmother had been unwell for a while due to age-related health complications.

Viraj's nani was a die-hard Anupamaa fan, starring Rupali Ganguly, and recently, the actress visited his residence to meet his ailing grandmother. On June 9, the Jawan actor shared heartfelt photos on his Instagram handle and wrote a touching note, expressing his love and gratitude.
He wrote "The moment @rupaliganguly got to know Nani is not doing good with her health. She followed up regularly on call with me and made sure every thing was going good… Yesterday the moment she could squeeze time from shoot, she came home to Kandivali and spent some time with nani and nani, oh my god she was soo happy, She was like a kid meeting her favourite superhero… Lots of love and thank you."

Viraj's nani breaking down while watching Anupamaa
In 2024, Viraj's nani was seen having an emotional moment and breaking down in tears when Rupali's character, Anupama, met with an accident on the show. Later, he called Rupali and requested her to speak with his grandmother directly.
