Mumbai Weather Update: IMD Issues Yellow Alert For City, Orange Alert For Thane, Palghar, Raigad Amid Heavy Rain Forecast

Mumbai: Mumbai and its metropolitan regions are expected to receive heavy downpours next two days as the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued Yellow Alert for Mumbai and Orange Alert for Thane, Palghar and Raigad.

IMD Issues Rain Alerts Across Mumbai Metropolitan Region

The Konkan region is experiencing increased monsoon activity since last week due to a change in weather patterns. Mumbai has already received more than 50% rainfall so far compared to the same period last year.

City to Remain Cloudy with Possibility of Heavy Showers

As per local weather forecast for the next 48 hours for Mumbai city and suburbs, the skies will remain generally cloudy with possibility of heavy rainfall. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be around 31 deg. C. and 24 deg. C, respectively.

Mumbai Rainfall Surpasses Last Year’s Mid-June Levels

As of June 23 morning, the Colaba observatory recorded 545 mm rainfall so far and Santacruz observatory recorded 473 mm rainfall. On the same day last year since onset of monsoon, the Colaba observatory had recorded 326 mm rainfall and Santacruz had reported 201 mm.

In the last 24 hours, Mumbai City received 54 mm rainfall, eastern suburbs received 56 mm rainfall and western suburbs received 40 mm rainfall.
