Chandigarh: Even as Pakistan escalated its hostilities Saturday morning in Punjab, the Indian army successfully intercepted and neutralised the armed drones launched by Pakistan, for the third consecutive day.
Also, all the key defence installations located in and around the border districts of Pathankot, Amritsar, Bathinda, Ferozepur and Jalandhar were safe and a few contrary reports peddled on the different platforms, were found to be fake.
According to information, the Indian army neutralised the Pakistani drones in the Khasa cantonment area in Amritsar. However, a drone fell near a house in Wadala village, fire of which was put out by villagers. Wreckage of another drone was also found scattered over an area of 1 km in Jallupur Khera, which was taken away by an army team.

In Bathinda, air raids sirens were sounded after an explosion was reported from near a key defence installation in early hours. According to reports, the residents of village Burj Mehma were first to rush to the fields though the army teams had cordoned off the area.
On the Pathankot skyline, several drones were spotted and explosions, heard till early morning. However, three missiles were found to have hit a nearby village Damtal which caused craters and damaged a house and killed two cows.
A red alert was sounded in Jalandhar and Hoshiarpur districts where explosions were repeatedly heard till early morning and parts projectiles were found from near Adampur area as the defence forces downed the Pakistani drones.
In Phagwara also, a part of a suspected missile fell in a field Khalyaan near Phagwara town and caused a crater. The projectile was taken away by the defence team.

Meanwhile, explosions were also heard in a few parts of Haryana’s Sirsa district following which it was learnt that a missile launched by Pakistan was neutralised by the Indian army and its parts were recovered from Khaja Khera and Firozabad villages of the district.
