A woman died and her son was injured while they were in an auto rickshaw that was rammed from behind by a dumper, which broke through the divider and fell into the creek. The rescue operation is being carried out by the emergency authorities. The incident took place on Gabdhari bridge, which connects Bhiwandi and Kalyan on Tuesday between 6 AM and 7 AM.
The deceased has been identified as Mangala Wanghede, and her son, Nilesh Wanghede, was injured. It is said that they are residents of Bapgaon in Bhiwandi.
The police sources said that the dumper was heading to Kalyan from Bhiwandi and collided with an auto rickshaw, which led to the dumper falling into the creek. Locals rushed to the spot and found the auto rickshaw mangled, rescuing the driver and his mother, who were later sent to a nearby hospital where Mangala Wanghede was declared dead on arrival and her son is being treated in the hospital.
The fire brigade team and local police rushed to the spot after receiving information about it. The fire officials started search operations for two people who were in the truck. They called a crane to retrieve the truck. With the help of a boat, they were searching for two people.
