I will always wax lyrical about how fantastic midi dresses are to have in your wardrobe. I love anything that can be styled in multiple ways and worn for multiple occasions, and a midi dress manages to check off all those boxes.
The latest addition to my wardrobe is one that I already know will be sticking around for many years to come; the Meg Bright Green Midi Dress from Fat Face. Everything from the bright colour to the light, breezy fabric has secured this a permanent spot in my wardrobe, but with a holiday coming up I already know this is going to be the first thing I packed.

The Meg Midi Dress is £65, and although I opted for the summer-ready bright green colour, you can also snap it up in a neutral beige shade that’s perfect for those who prefer a more minimalist style. Its sizing range is also great; it goes from a size six to a 22, with both short and regular lengths available. I took my usual size (a 14) and it fitted like a glove, so I would recommend sticking to your usual size.
The flattering shape is what really drew me to the dress. It’s fitted in the bodice with a flowing midi skirt which creates a flattering silhouette, and the ruching detail around the bust is adjustable, so you can alter it to suit your shape. Plus the fact it has handy pockets for your room key or some change obviously make it an instantly winner.
Adjustable straps also let you make sure the Meg Midi Dress fits your body just as you want it to. The back has a shirred panel for a little extra stretch and comfort, but it’s worth noting that there isn’t any stretch in the front or waist, so if you have a larger chest you may need to size up to give yourself a little more room.
If you want something with plenty of stretch, this £69 Green Short Sleeve A-line Sarah Midi Dress from Nobody’s Child is a great option. It has a T-shirt style top with a similar flowing midi skirt at the bottom, giving you plenty of movement.
For a more streamlined, simple silhouette, Seasalt Cornwall’s Madder Jersey Woven Mix Sleeveless Dress is ideal, and it’s currently reduced to £37.95 down from £69.95. It’s made from 100% organic cotton, which keeps it breathable, and has a flattering fit and flare design.
However the material of the Meg Midi Dress is probably one of my favourite things about it. It’s made from 100% Lenzing ecovero viscose, which is a sustainable alternative to regular viscose whilst still keeping the same soft, lightweight feel.
It’s breezy, comfortable, and doesn't cling to my body or feel too thick or heavy, making it perfect for scorching summer temperatures. It does have a slightly thicker lining under the skirt to make sure it’s not see through, but this is also light and flowy enough to work with the dress, not against it.
Although the Meg Midi Dress will definitely be making its way on holiday with me to be worn with sandals and a tote bag, I also feel like it would be easy to dress it up a little more for a dinner or even a summer wedding. A simple pair of heeled sandals and a beaded clutch bag would instantly change the vibe of it, all whilst keeping you cool and comfortable in the heat.
