A schoolgirl who died after falling into a reservoir while taking photos with her dad during a walk has been named. Qudsiyah Mahmood died after she fell over the parapet at Baitings Reservoir, near Ripponden, at around 1.20pm, on Wednesday.
Witnesses told how the 13-year-old had "a really bright future" and was out on a half-term walk with her dad when she fell over the parapet. Her distressed father was then led away in an ambulance after he appeared to be clutching his chest in pain while calling out her name. Police Regional Marine and Underwater Search units scoured the reservoir and the girl's body was found on Friday.
In an email sent to parents of pupils at Crossley Heath School in Halifax, where Qudsiyah attended, headteacher Dean Jones paid tribute to the teen. She was described as a "bright, kind and friendly young person who brought happiness to our school".

Mr Jones said: "Our thoughts and prayers are very much with her family now and always." He said Qudsiyah's fellow pupils would be offered support in the wake of the tragedy, and that staff were "here to listen and help" families affected.
Mr Jones added: "I am ever so sorry to share this news. However, as a school family I want you to know we are there side by side with Qudsiyah's family, all in our Crossley's school family and our community to offer the best support we can."
Witness Sue Ferris, 80, whose home overlooks Baitings Reservoir, went to comfort the teenager's on Wednesday afternoon after watching the tragedy unfold.
She said: "The little girl was posing for photographs before this happened. Her dad had been taking the photographs. It is disgraceful that there are no life buoy rings anywhere on the parapet.
"Yorkshire Water added the white metal railings on top of the stone structure some years ago now," Mrs Ferris told the Sun.
"But it only adds about half a foot to the barrier height and actually helps people to climb onto the wall. It gives them something to grip on to. All it is doing, is helping people to stand on the wall."
Mrs Ferris said girl's family told her the teenager wanted to walk around the reservoir with her dad because it was half term. "She had just got into grammar school, they told me. They were very proud of her. She had a really bright future," Mrs Ferris said.
"Dad had been taking photographs, according to a witness, and he also heard dad screaming and shouting her name after she fell in - but he did not go into the water.
"He had some kind of heart problem and was clutching his chest soon afterwards and was taken away by ambulance."
