Ensuring windows are spotlessly clean without any lingering residue or unsightly streaks can be a challenging task, particularly if you're keen to avoid harsh chemical products. Cleaning enthusiast and content creator Chantel Mila, better known as Mama Mila on TikTok, has shared how she's mastered a homemade formula to banish unwanted window blemishes, reports the Express.
What's even more brilliant is that you only need a few simple ingredients to create the solution. You'll only require four ingredients to whip up this homemade mixture.
Chantel revealed in a recent video: "I've been playing around with ratios for the last few months to work on a new window cleaning mix for you - and this one is by far my new favourite! It leaves your windows so shiny and the mix is fast drying, which means it doesn't leave streaks or water marks."

First, take a bucket and add four cups of water, four cups of white vinegar, a quarter cup of washing-up liquid, and a quarter cup of rubbing alcohol. Chantel highlighted that the white vinegar works to slice through the dirt and fingerprint marks on the window, as does the washing-up liquid.
Nevertheless, it's the rubbing alcohol that helps to accelerate the drying process and avoid the streaks. Vinegar provides numerous advantages for maintaining spotless windows, particularly regarding environmental impact.
As a natural, eco-friendly substitute for chemical cleaners, vinegar doesn't contribute to environmental pollution, according to Bedford Window Cleaning. Thanks to its acidic properties, vinegar can effectively dissolve the grime that accumulates on windows, as well as tackle stains and dirt.
It works hand in hand with washing up liquid to ensure a streak-free finish after cleaning. However, it's crucial to use the right proportions of vinegar in your cleaning mixture. If used excessively, especially on overcast or cloudy days, it can cause the windows to appear 'cloudy'.
The professionals at Bedford Window Cleaning recommended cleaning windows on sunny, clear days for the best results.
Washing up liquid not only ensures a streak-free shine on your windows but also serves as a temporary fix for condensation. The cleaning product reduces the surface tension of water, enabling it to spread evenly across the window.
This prevents the formation of water droplets, which could leave marks once dried. However, it's essential to use the correct quantity of washing up liquid, as too much could result in a soapy film on the glass, leading to streaks.
GLRE Glazing Refurbishment suggested that washing up liquid can serve as a temporary solution. Their experts explain that this trick works by creating a thin film that reduces surface tension and stops water droplets from forming on a cold surface, just like it prevents streaks.
However GLRE cautioned: "Remember, it's a temporary solution and may not completely stop condensation, especially on colder days. It's best applied to the bottom of the windows where condensation tends to accumulate the most."
The rubbing alcohol assists the cleaning mixture in evaporating swiftly from the window glass, minimising the likelihood of streaks and water marks being left behind, Better Homes & Gardens explained. The inclusion of rubbing alcohol also assists in eliminating any germs on the glass.
