Liverpool have rejected a £58.6million bid from Bayern Munich for Luis Diaz - but the Colombian international wants to leave Anfield.
The Reds received the offer from the Bundesliga champions on Tuesday but it was immediately rebuffed. Diaz has two years left on his contract at the club and the Reds are not interested in selling him this summer. They have been assertive that they won't be selling unless it's money they simply cannot turn down - potentially to the tune of £86m.
The feeling is the market this summer for an attacking midfielder was set by Saudi interest in Bruno Fernandes, who valued the Manchester United captain at £86m and he is also two years older than Diaz. It is not known yet if Bayern will bid again but Liverpool are not interested in negotiations.
However Diaz, 28, has grown frustrated by the club's stance on his contract. He remains on the same deal that he signed when arriving from Porto in January 2022 for an initial £37.5m and is paid far less than a number of the club's top stars, not to mention top earners Mo Salah and Virgil van Dijk, who agreed extensions earlier this year.
Diaz has made 148 appearances for the club, scoring 41 goals and providing 23 assists in all competitions and scored 13 goals in 36 games for Arne Slot's men as they won the Premier League title last term. But he spent parts of last season moved from his preferred left-sided position into the centre of attack as they ran into injury issues up top, with Slot preferring to use Cody Gakpo out wide and move Diaz infield.

Diaz recently told Colombian influencer Mauricio Gomez: "We’re there, negotiating. We’ll see what can be achieved, for us and for the club. We’ll try to do our best and make the best decision.
"We’re in the process of negotiations, talking with the club, with Liverpool, with everyone who’s approaching us. But I’m very calm where I am, you know, very happy. Trying to make the best decision now."
But with no sign of an improved deal forthcoming from the club's hierarchy, he has made clear his desire to move elsewhere.
Barcelona have been very keen to sign him and take him to Catalunya, but their financial troubles see the Spanish champions looking at alternatives. And that has left Bayern as the club most likely, with boss Vincent Kompany desperate to add more attacking firepower.
Kompany has seen Thomas Muller and Leroy Sane both depart this summer, while Jamal Musiala suffered a serious injury during the FIFA Club World Cup to increase his need to add to his attack. Someone to operate down the German side's left flank has become his priority.
Bayern are under increasing pressure to sign a marquee name this summer, particularly having missed out on Liverpool new boy Florian Wirtz. The Germany star was tracked for almost two years by the Bavarian giants, but how their attempts to sign Wirtz played out in the German media left the player's camp frustrated, before his meetings with Liverpool persuaded him that his future would be better served at Anfield.
And despite their last big-money signing from Anfield, Sadio Mane, being a big disappointment at the Allianz Arena, they haven't been put off trying to land another Kop star.
