No matter how meticulous I am with my skincare routine or how careful I am to make sure I get enough sleep each night, sometimes the occasional eye bag is inevitable. Though concealer is usually a solid port of call for covering them up, the summer means more often than not I prefer to wear less coverage – or no makeup at all.
So I decided to give one of L’Oreal’s newest launches, the Revitalift Laser Eye Bag Instant Eraser Eye Cream, a whirl to see if it could minimise those bags and hopefully reduce some fine lines while I’m at it. The new eye cream is usually priced at £29.99, but currently it’s on sale with 50% off at Boots, meaning you can get your hands on it for £14.99.

First off, the eye cream has a lovely light texture that does sink in quickly and is easy to pat into your skin. Patting is important here – you’re not meant to pull or rub it, instead you gently pat it into your under-eye area making sure it's suitably blended outwards.
The next part is a little trickier – you have to leave the Revitalift Laser Eye Bag Instant Eraser Eye Cream to “set” for around 15 minutes, and during that time you’re not meant to make any facial expressions at all. No smiling, no frowning; basically nothing that would cause your under-eye area to crease or wrinkle.
After the 15 minutes is up though, you’re free to apply any makeup over the top or leave it as it is for a no makeup day. Whilst the results weren’t dramatic, I did notice a marked improvement around my under-eye area, especially on my fine lines which were less dramatic and definitely looked smoother.
The Revitalift Laser Eye Bag Instant Eraser Eye Cream works by compressing and blurring your under-eye wrinkles, and its unique formula is what makes it work so effectively. It has a “gel-to-tape” technology, which becomes an invisible and lightweight film that tightens and smooths the skin. This is why it’s so important not to wrinkle or crease the area with facial expressions whilst it’s setting!
The only caveat is that it can leave the area feeling a little dry, so you might find your makeup more likely to pill or go patchy when you’re wearing it. However a good primer, or a more hydrating liquid or cream-based concealer and foundation should help to counteract it.
However the bonus is that the Revitalift Laser Eye Bag Instant Eraser Eye Cream can last up to eight hours, which makes it perfect for applying before work or when you’re getting ready for a big event. Its 15 minute window is also ideal when you want a quick fix for any puffiness, dark circles or wrinkles, and it does feel almost invisible to wear, with no heaviness or greasiness.
There are also several other options around to try out, including Peter Thomas Roth Instant FIRMx Eye Temporary Eye Tightener which is also on sale down from £40 to £28, not to mention the Wunderlift 60 Second Wrinkle Reducer which is £23. The Wunderlift acts in under a minute, and has colour correctors which help conceal as well as smooth.
However despite the 15 minute wait time for the Revitalift Laser Eye Bag Instant Eraser Eye Cream to work, its effects were impressive enough for me to add this to my skincare's permanent rotation. Plus, at 50% off, now is the perfect time to give it a whirl without breaking your budget.
