The White Lotus star stars in Sky trailer for action-packed thriller from Luther creator

Sky has dropped its gripping official full trailer for The Iris Affair with two fan-favourites taking centre stage.

The Iris Affair will be making its way to Sky Atlantic and NOW next month with its newly released trailer teasing a dangerous globe-trotting mission in the eight-part thriller.

Enigmatic genius Iris (played by Niamh Algar) is recruited by charming entrepreneur Cameron Beck (Tom Hollander) who says he needs her to “wake up” a machine which could “cure everything”.

“The machine could alter the future of humanity. It’s too big a risk to take”, she tells Cameron who accuses her of being frightened.

In the next moment, Iris is seen being chased down a corridor by a man wielding an axe who orders her through a glass door “Destroy the machine”.

This leads to her stealing a journal containing important information on the powerful machine, leaving Cameron furious as she goes on the run.

In another clip, he candidly tells her “They’re going to murder me if I don’t wake up the machine”, to which she bluntly replies: “No offence, it might just be better to let that happen.”

The trailer for The Iris Affair then ends with Hollander’s Cameron awkwardly laughing with blood trickling down his head.

Bringing Sky’s latest thriller to life is actor Tom Hollander who will be remembered as Quentin in the second season of The White Lotus in 2022.

Some of his other biggest parts have been in Baptiste, The Ipcress File, as well as romantic drama About Time and Pride and Prejudice with Kiera Knightley.

Hollander is joined by Irish actress Niamh Algar who most recently starred opposite Happy Valley legend James Norton in ITV’s Playing Nice.

Algar has also had roles in Pure, MotherFatherSon, Raised By Wolves and The Virtues with Emmy Award winning actor Stephen Graham.

The Iris Affair has been created by Neil Cross who is the mastermind behind Idris Elba’s unforgettable drama Luther.

While speaking to The Independent, Cross teased that the series would be an “unapologetically exciting, witty, chase-driven adventure show.”

The Iris Affair will premiere on Thursday, October 16 on Sky Atlantic and NOW
