Saif Ali Khan has been entertaining audiences for more than three decades with memorable performances in both films and OTT projects. While most people believe that his Bollywood journey began with Yash Chopra’s 1993 film Parampara, the truth is that this was not his actual first film.
In fact, Saif was initially signed for another project in 1992. He was all set to make his debut with Rahul Rawail’s Bekhudi, opposite Kajol. Shooting had even started, but soon a condition was placed before the young actor—one that changed the course of his career.
According to reports, the makers asked Saif to choose between his personal life and his professional opportunity. He was told to either end his relationship with his then-girlfriend or continue with the film. Saif, unwilling to comply with this demand, was eventually replaced by actor Kamal Sadanah in Bekhudi.
An old interview of Saif has resurfaced where he candidly spoke about this early setback. Reflecting on those days, he said, “What is struggle? Sitting in an autorickshaw and taking ten rounds, or waiting for hours in someone’s office—that is called struggle. I also had mine, but it was different. I was thrown out of my first film because the director told me to either leave my girlfriend or do the movie. It was a moral choice.”
Despite this rocky start, Saif Ali Khan went on to establish himself as a respected and versatile actor in the Hindi film industry, proving that setbacks can sometimes pave the way for bigger successes.
