Arsenal have expressed their 'devastation' at the news of former star Billy Vigar's tragic death. The 21-year-old was involved in a shocking incident over the weekend as he crashed into a hard pitch-side surface when playing for Chichester City.
He was given treatment by an ambulance team and was then rushed to hospital via helicopter for further treatment. Vigar was put into an induced coma and underwent surgery. But unfortunately, he failed to recover and has heartbreakingly succumbed in his injuries.
A statement from Chichester on Thursday read: "It is with great sadness that Chichester City Football Club has to confirm the passing of Billy Vigar. Below is a statement from his family. We request that his family's privacy is respected at this most difficult time."
A further statement from Vigar's family read: "After sustaining a significant brain injury last Saturday, Billy Vigar was put in an induced coma.
