This new BBC drama has been spotlighted among the "absolute best BBC dramas available to watch right now," and fans are singing its praises. Mix Tape is an Irish-Australian miniseries adapted from Jane Sanderson's novel of the same title. It stars Teresa Palmer and One Day's Jim Sturgess, alongside their younger counterparts, played by Brigerton's Florence Hunt and Rory Walton-Smith. Stylist has highlighted the musically influenced series among its listing of the best BBC dramas of the moment.
The series synopsis reads: "Mix Tape is a story about first love, second chances, and the enduring power of music, told through the lens of a double timeline. The narrative follows the relationship between Daniel and Alison, who first connect as teenagers in 1980s Sheffield over their shared love of music. Years later, they reconnect as adults, living on opposite sides of the world, and explore whether their youthful spark can be rekindled."

Fans have been hailing the show since its release on iPlayer in July.
One described it as a "nostalgic romance", adding: "We knew nothing about this going in, other than 'you never forget the boy who makes you your first mixtape'. Enjoyed the short series so much, perfect weekend watch. The songs are perhaps more suited to UK watchers, but they were well chosen and took us back. Great casting! The young actors had us believing they were smitten, and the chemistry carried across to the adult counterparts. Only one actor seemed like he was acting otherwise; the characters were believable and a little relatable. Gen X watchers should enjoy this."
While another described it as "one of the best things I've watched in the last 10 years".
One reviewer noted the "compelling narrative", while another said: "Just wanted to review this amazing new drama series. I have had to binge-watch it because I couldn't stop watching it. This is one of the best series I've watched in a while. It got me hooked, and my husband has loved it too. Throughout it, I've felt quite emotional; it's just so good and so well produced and directed and well acted. The four main actors are really good."
Mix Tape is available to stream right now on BBC iPlayer.
