Virginia Giuffre's heartbreaking diary includes claims about "scary" days leading up to her death in April. Ms Giuffre was a key accuser of billionaire financier Jeffrey Epstein, who she said had sex trafficked her among his rich and powerful friends, including Prince Andrew, who has always strenuously denied meeting her.
She took her own life aged 41 on April 25, three weeks after posting a photo of herself on Instagram covered in bruises from what she said was a crash. She said medics had given her four days left to live and she was "ready to go". Her death sparked outlandish conspiracy theories that it was ordered by powerful people who wanted to silence her.
But in a bid to quash such rumours her relatives have told The Times there was a part of Ms Giuffre's story she didn't get to share. Amanda Roberts, who is married to Ms Giuffre's brother, Sky Roberts, claimed that the "hardest battle" she faced in her last days was at home.
Ms Giuffre's family has shared a diary with The Times in which she reportedly recorded memories of the breakdown of her marriage to Robert Giuffre.
According to The Times, the diary includes allegations Mr Giuffre was violent and "controlling" both "emotionally and physically". His attorney has told The Times they can't comment on any of the accusations due to active legal proceedings relating to the family in Western Australia. He described the passing of Ms Giuffre as tragic.
Ms Giuffre claimed in her diary, which has not been seen by the Express, that as she gained more strength from becoming the face of a campaign to bring Epstein and others to justice, her husband became "scarier".
Mr Giuffre is a martial arts instructor and father to Ms Giuffre's three children. He is said to have left his wife in August 2023.
In allegations first reported in People magazine, Ms Giuffre said that while she was able to fight back against Epstein and his sex trafficking girlfriend Ghislaine Maxwell, she was unable to escape domestic violence in her marriage until recently.
Her husband reportedly filed a family violence restraining order against Ms Giuffre, claiming she had become violent and not him.
Ms Giuffre is reported to have told her brother, Sky, of an alleged incident on January 9. She accused her estranged husband of punching her "over and over" after she refused to have sex with him.
But he accused her of headbutting, spitting at and punching him. Police reportedly investigated both incidents, but no charges were brought.
Mr Giuffre's application for temporary custody of two of their children was granted not long after the incident. Ms Giuffre was told she couldn't contact her kids for six months. She died before she could see them again.
The Instagram post showed her covered in bruises from a hospital bed. She claimed her car had been hit by a school bus, but police in Australia said the collision was minor and there were no reported injuries.
Ms Giuffre's family believe the post was a last attempt to make contact with her children.
In her final diary entry, entitled "To the kids", she is reported to have written: "Everyday that I don't see your faces has a little less light. The world is dimmer without you in it".
