Giovanni Pernice flaunts impressive body transformation after Strictly Come Dancing exit

Giovanni Pernice took to social media to show off the results of keeping himself in shape as he transformed his physique, one year after his shock exit from Strictly Come Dancing. While the 34-year-old has been open about fitness, he shared "before and after" photos of his torso, which he revealed took him just five weeks to transform.

Wearing the same mulberry-coloured trousers, Gio showcased his newly defined six-pack abs and toned biceps. The transformation quickly sparked a frenzy among his 1.1 million followers and his celebrity pals, who took to the comments to praise the choreographer. This included actress and TV presenter Bianca Guaccero, with whom Gio was partnered and won the Italian version of Strictly. She posted: "Strength and determination! Good job, my love!!!"

The 2017 Strictly star Gemma Atkinson, who is also an avid fitness lover, posted five hand-clapping emojis.

Supportive fans shared: "Didn't think you could improve on perfection, but Wow Gio!" As a second echoed: "Well done Gio but you would look gorgeous even with a paper bag on your head!"

Meanwhile a longtime fan commended Gio's transformation with a flame emoji and added: "Wish you could come back to strictly!"

Although it's yet to be said if the Italian dancer will return to the BBC competition series, he was forced to quit the show last year after nine years.

This came after he faced allegations over his controversial training methods from past celebrity partners, including Sherlock star Amanda Abbington.

At the time, Gio said he was "surprised" to find himself at the centre of "abuse" claims after Amanda, 51, quit the 2023 Strictly series due to medical reasons.

However, she later alleged that she suffered from post-traumatic stress disorder following her time on the show and claimed that Gio had been "unnecessary, abusive, cruel and mean."

Although the pro issued a statement to "clear his name," the allegations prompted BBC bosses to launch an investigation into the 17 claims made by Amanda.

The broadcaster upheld six relating to verbal bullying and harassment, but the more serious one of physical aggression was dismissed.

After releasing the verdict, the BBC said: "We have assessed the complaints and we have upheld some, but not all, of the complaints made.

"We want to apologise to Amanda Abbington and to thank her for coming forward and taking part. We know this would not have been an easy thing to do."
