Good Morning Britain's Alex Beresford warned viewers that the UK is in for a very "unsettled week" as he warned them to "get brollies ready". The weather presenter explained that the nation will see a "number of weather fronts" from higher than average temperatures to gusty winds and lots of rain over the next week.
He said: "Today we are getting the remnants of ex-hurricane Melissa across the North West, and you can see as we head through the next few days, there will be showers and outbreaks of rain. At times it will be unsettled and pretty windy, but it will be quite mild. In fact temperatures will be several degrees higher than average, even at night-time it won't be particularly cold, which is good news for those heating bills." The weatherman added that Monday morning will see a "messy start" as it will be a "fairly wet day". Alex continued as he warned: "Rain is certainly the name of the game as we head through the next few days. Keep your brollies handy... There's a good chance you are going to get wet this week."
Despite the wet weather, temperatures are expected to be between 13 and 15 degrees in the next week, which is higher than normal for this time of year.
Fans of the ITV show poked fun at the weather report, putting it down to typical British weather. One viewer wrote on X/Twitter: "Looks like we're in for a right old mix-up then-better dig out the brolly and the sun cream, just in case! Typical British weather, eh?"
Another echoed: "Unsettled? It's just normal British weather." Brits could soon enjoy some warmer weather in November after a period of more unsettled conditions.
A weather forecast from Netweather shows the mercury reaching as high as 17C in one region of England on Wednesday, November 5.
Looking forward to the period of November 5 - November 14, the Met Office forecasts that changeable and at times unsettled weather is likely to continue.
The forecast adds: "This means further showers or longer spells of rain at times. All parts could see some heavy rain, but it is likely that western areas will be wettest. Strong winds are likely at times, with gales possible in the west.
"Equally there should also be some drier or clearer interludes, these more prevalent further east.
"A transition to a less unsettled pattern is possible later in the period making drier interludes more common. Above average temperatures are most likely, with a reduced incidence of overnight frost and fog, compared to normal, especially at first."
