'I visited one of Spain's most popular islands - it was awful and I won't be going back!'

What was meant to be a relaxing escape to sun-soaked shores turned into a major holiday letdown for one UK traveller. Hoping for beach days and good vibes, she instead found herself counting down the days until she could fly home, and she's now urging others to think twice before booking the same destination.

TikTok creator Dannii, known online as @dannii_xo, recently travelled to Playa del Ingles in Gran Canaria and shared a brutally honest review of her experience with her 3,700+ followers. In a viral video, she appeared disheartened and unimpressed, captioning the clip: "This is your sign to do your research before booking a holiday, we can't wait to get home."

Lying on what appears to be a hotel bed, Dannii looked visibly unimpressed in the clip, and she wasn't alone in her opinion. Hundreds of fellow travellers flooded the comments to agree, saying they'd had similar experiences.

One viewer recalled their recent trip to the area, they said: "First day was pure panic because we were in Playa del Ingles and went down to the beach and were like ??????." They added that nearby areas like Maspalomas, Amadores, and Puerto Rico offered better beaches and restaurants, urging others to explore beyond Playa del Inglés.

Another user wrote: "We had the same feeling," while a third commented: "Yeah Playa is not the best at all, nothing there. Went down to the Yumbo Centre for a night out, that was ok. Tenerife is my new go-to!"

Others echoed that there was "nothing there" but encouraged Dannii to take the bus to explore different parts of the island. Unfortunately, for Dannii, her trip was already off to a rocky start and seemed beyond saving.

Responding to some of the advice, she admitted: "I don't think I'll be coming back because it's really put me off. I love main Spain, but this experience has been awful."

In a follow-up post, she clarified that her comments were about Playa del Ingles specifically, not Gran Canaria as a whole.

"The hotel's awful, the locals have been incredibly rude for absolutely no reason. I can't travel too far out as I'm with elderly family members, and it's too much for them."

She did manage to visit Puerto Rico, which she described as "beautiful," but explained that the overall experience had been disappointing due to sky-high prices.

"I feel like I'm being scammed," she added, noting that her family had visited the same island two years ago and the prices had nearly doubled.
