The world's "leading" tourist attraction, which was crowned the one most worth visiting, is located just outside the UK. At an awards ceremony in 2023, the world's most visit-worthy attraction was named and many people are in agreement, with online reviews of the experience describing it as amazing and unmissable. At the 2023 World Travel Awards, the museum was praised for its immersive visitor experience and various offerings.
The world's leading tourist attraction is the Guinness Storehouse in Dublin. Nicknamed the 'home of Guinness', the museum charts the story of the iconic Irish drink, which has a rich history that is deeply intertwined with the story of the Irish capital. Thousands of online reviews have praised this attraction, and it is a go-to for people who are flying over to the Irish city. From places like Liverpool and Manchester, Dublin is a mere 55-minute flight away. From places further south, like London, it's just over an hour.
At the awards, the Guinness Storehouse beat out iconic tourist attractions such as Niagara Falls, the Great Wall of China and Machu Picchu to be named the world's leading attraction. The museum tells the story of the drink, including how it's made, its history, its iconic advertising and its unique flavour.
Visitors get to travel upwards in a museum that is shaped like a pint of Guinness and experience the various exhibits. Plus, there is a unique guided Guinness tasting, and at the end of the experience, ticket-holders enjoy a complimentary pint of Guinness in the Gravity Bar, which offers unbeaten views of Dublin.
There are also add-on experiences that visitors can purchase. A popular one is getting their photo printed onto a pint of Guinness. There is also the Guinness Academy, where an expert teaches visitors how to pour the perfect pint.
Standard tickets, which include the tasting and the free pint at the end, cost €26 (around £22.40) per person.
Previous visitors have had overwhelmingly positive things to say about the experience. One Tripadvisor reviewer wrote: "What an amazing tour. So well laid out and informative. The audio-visual display was incredible! Everyone had told us we had to go here and they were right! Exceeded our expectations."
Another said: "What a great attraction, loads of info delivered in a fun way for all ages. Really imaginative displays and fantastic to see how this iconic building has managed to mix the old manufacturing plant with the new visitor attraction, it's astounding really!
Recommend upgrading your tour for the reasonably priced 'personalised' pint! Love that this is about the cost of a pub pint and not out of reach for visitors to upgrade their experience. Lots of other add-ons, you can tailor your experience to suit your group."
A third wrote: "Must-do in Ireland, even if you don't drink (I don't). Fun experience, an actually nice gift shop, and excellent views from the rooftop bar. Plenty of elevators and restrooms. Recommend!"

A fourth wrote: "Great tour. I'm not a lover of Guinness but enjoyed learning the history on how it was founded and created. We only purchased the basic tour which included the free pint at the end, but loved that it was self guided and we could go at our own pace. I would recommend this as a must-do in Dublin."
While the Guinness Storehouse won the 2023 award for the world's leading tourist attraction, according to Tripadvisor users, it does not rank as the top thing to do in Dublin. On that list, the best thing to do in Dublin is Kilmainham Gaol, which is a historic jail where you can learn the fascinating history of Irish rebel heroes who fought for independence from the British Empire in 1916.
The Guinness Storehouse is placed second on the list of the best things to do in the Irish capital, followed by The Little Museum of Dublin, the Jameson Distillery, the Book of Kells Experience, the Irish Rock 'N' Roll Museum and St Stephen's Green park.
