A British is urging people to visit a lesser-known city this summer. Jade Gartshore, an influencer known as @jadeinspain on social media, has moved to the city and described it as a "hidden gem".
She recently took to Instagram, where she has close to 4,000 followers, to give an update on how her move to Murcia is going. Jade left for the city in south-east Spain from her home in Leicester five months ago and isn't looking back. She said: "I actually left the UK five months ago to Murcia which is a hidden gem. It's sunny pretty much every day so my mood is never affected by the weather.
"Murcia itself is much cheaper than expected so I can get a coffee for €1.20 (£1). The lifestyle is so much slower as well. People genuinely just want to stop and talk to you and no one's in a rush which is really bizarre to me."
Jade added: "I can safely say it's the best decision I've ever made. I'm five months in and I'm never going back."
Although Murcia is a lesser-known Spanish city, it still offers a range of attractions and beautiful beaches. Tourists often visit the Roman ruins in Cartagena, which include the Roman theater at the Museo del Teatro Romano.
Murcia also boasts a stunning coastline and rugged mountains. Visitors also benefit from a lower cost of living compared to the bigger Spanish cities.
In another video, Jade advises travellers to visit less popular tourist destinations instead of main cities like Barcelona, Madrid and Malaga. She recommends tourists to visit Murcia this summer.
Jade explained: "If I was coming to Spain on holiday this year, I would avoid Barcelona and Madrid for these reasons, because Murcia is a hidden gem that no one talks about and it has something for everyone.
"You've got hikes, harbours, beaches, coves. It honestly has so much you can do.
"The food is also amazing. You have to come and you have to try it. So if I were you I would not book your trip to Barcelona or Madrid. I'd head to Murcia this year."
