NEW DELHI: Jan Suraaj Party founder Prashant Kishor on Monday named former Bharatiya Janata Party ( BJP ) MP Uday Singh as the party's first national president.
This move comes as the party is preparing for its first full-fleged electoral debut in the Bihar polls scheduled for later this year.
Launched on October 2 last year, the Jan Suraaj Party had been operating without a full-fledged president.
Although Kishor made it clear that he would not hold any official position, former IPS officer Manoj Bharti was appointed as the 'working president' shortly after the party's inception."
“Is dal ka neta Prashant Kishor nahin hai (Prashant Kishor is not the leader of this party). The leader of this party will be the person who is the most capable face of Bihar and who has the support of everyone,” Kishor had said during the state-level workshop in July last year.
